Moses was able to stand in the tabernacle, behind the vail, in the holy of holies, before the ark of the covenant, in the presence of God. Not all who entered in were able to walk out. There were many who dropped dead for they were not clean when standing in that most holy of places before the Lord. They would actually tie a rope around their ankle so they could be pulled back out because no one else could go in and get them.
This made me think about showing God, the King of kings and Lord of lords, true reverence and respect. Yes I realize this is speaking about the sin upon those who entered in. But they also showed God respect or disrespect. So I thought about if we show Him the respect we should and what He deserves. Whether we are in His sanctuary or not, we should always show the Lord strong, humble respect. It’s of great importance that we do. He is our creator, He is our shield, our protector, our mighty all-knowing Savior. He is our everything but do we treat Him as our everything in our everyday life. Do we treat Him as our everything in His sanctuary, in His house?? Or just in one part of the entire building? Then I considered how we use His name, how we refer to Him, how we listen to His messages, how we come into His sanctuary, how we treat and act in His sanctuary, and how we act outside of His sanctuary. After considering everything, I realized we don’t show God the respect and reverence He honestly deserves. His word says He must come before all and be our all in all. If we say that God is our all in all then our actions and words should reflect that.
My Lord God, I pray You would convict the hearts of Your people, and the whole nation. I pray we stop disrespecting You, we stop using Your name in vain, we stop referring to You in a way that belittles You, we stop showing blatant disregard for You and Your word. Convict the hearts of those who call You by any other name. Please forgive me for when I have disrespected You in any way, fashion or form.
