Have you ever noticed the lengths that people will go to in order to worship a false god and idol? They show more faith and commitment to something that is completely false than we who serve the only Living God. They cry out, pray to, obey, take literally, don’t question or re-write over and over their “bible”, and have unquestionable faith in their false god or idol. These false gods and idols are dead, having no power to do anything, they know nothing, they can’t hear their prayers but yet people go and pray to the false god at every appointed time. They are so dedicated to the false god that not only is there an actual prayer room, as a part of their home, but also in the workplace so no one is denied the opportunity to go pray. It’s required they go every time they are appointed. They actually get in trouble for not praying, companies face consequences when they don’t allow their employees a very specific place to pray. There are certain requirements for the prayer room. The list goes on!
Those that serve and follow these false gods and idols make Christians look extremely bad. We can’t agree on which Bible is the correct one and we continue to re-write His Word. Do we think He got it wrong or needs our help to make it more modern and understanding? We can’t agree which denomination we all should be a part of. We have separated ourselves while they unite over a false god. We have taken the opportunity of prayer out of almost every building, then ask why aren’t those people or children taken care of or have such problems. We are scoffed at if we pray in public over our food or in the local Walmart for a friend who has shared their need. We roll our eyes when someone tries to share their testimony, because they might speak to long, or invites us to church. Lord help us if church services last longer than an hour because we won’t make it to the local restaurant before everyone else and then we have to wait. We are the ones who are suppose to be serving the only Living God but yet we use Him, His Word and the power of prayer as a “hot plate” that we only need from time to time. When we have an excessive need that’s when we consider the option of getting the “hot plate” out for use.
People, so-called Christians, we need to stop serving God as though He is an inconvenience to us. As though He is our last option and just maybe we’ll give Him our attention. For the Lord God Almighty has given us His full attention from the beginning and He has been more than gracious and patient with us. To the point, He sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior. To shed His precious blood for our sins and we toss Him aside for those just in case of an emergency situations. He is more than a “hot plate” or “break in case of an emergency”; He is the Lamb of God, our only Savior, the only way to the Father, and the only way to forgiveness. We need to serve Him more fiercely and with all diligence.
Lord God Almighty, please forgive us, Christians, for being way too relaxed in our so-called walk with You. Because we have obviously let You down and we have not been devoted to the path You have for us. For if we were, would we be enduring the problems we face today? If we were, would there still be so many who don’t know You? If we were, would a false god be worshipped more faithfully than the only true God? Lord, show us Your true way for we seem lost. Lord, please forgive me for where I have failed You. I want to be completely devoted to my Living God.
