“Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.” Luke‬ ‭8‬:‭35‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As our Sunday School class studied this lesson about the Legion of devils being cast out of the man at the tombs, I couldn’t help but notice this verse. This verse reminds me of the change that I have witnessed in others and seen in my own self. You know that change that takes place when a sinner becomes a saint. The moment when a person realizes they are a sinner, lost and undone, they feel conviction and know they need salvation. Therefore they ask Jesus into their heart to dwell, to wash away their sins and create in them a new heart, giving them a new life. This is the new beginning, when a change takes place inside (the devils are cast out) and reveals itself on the outside (sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in your right mind). Just as this man who had a legion of devils possessing him, when Jesus cast them out and washed him clean on the inside. That inward change showed on the outside as he was sitting a the feet of Jesus, clothed (for the first time in how long) and in his right mind (again for the first time in how long). This is a testimony to the fact that when someone gets saved truly and honestly there is an actual change in them. They don’t look the same for they have the Light of Jesus upon them. They don’t walk the same because they are now in their right mind, a mind that has been changed to think on righteousness. They don’t talk the same because they are in their right mind and their speech has been changed. There are many things that change in that instance and then there are things that change with time as they seek after the Lord. As they seek after righteousness: “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matt 5:6 KJV

Lord God, I want to thank You for the obvious change that has taken place in my life for I know beyond any shadow of a doubt that I am saved! I’ve been touched and washed clean by the blood of the Lamb, my risen Savior. I pray that others can clearly see the inner change in me as I strive to outwardly shine the Light of Jesus everywhere I go.
