I’ve heard of prayer language and I do have my own prayer language between the Lord and myself. But worship language? Do I have a worship language? Do you? Mine was pointed out to me several months back by one of the elders in our church but I just didn’t pay complete attention to it. That is until God revealed to me that yes we do or can have a worship language between us and Him only this “language” everyone can see. You see my prayer language is only heard by my Lord as I pour out the depths of myself to Him for whatever request I am talking to Him about. I get into this “language” by being completely in tune with Him on a level that is deeper than some routine prayer. Well I’ll say the same thing happens as we begin to worship our Savior when we enter into a type of worship that pours out of us in a “language” between us and Him; only others can see it. Not for our glory by any means of the word, but all for His glory. He is the One we are entering a worship language with. Just because other can see the fruits of that worship doesn’t mean its for our boasting. For it is not.
You see as we begin to worship our living God from the depths of our hearts, the fruits of such worship can be seen, witnessed and be effective upon others. We must understand that He is the Living God, who inhabits our praises. Therefore and of course, our worship, our praise has a “language” to it. We join in worship together. We move, praise, sing, raise our hands, allow the tears to stream, celebrate Him, sway back and forth, stand in praise and kneel in praise. There are so many worship languages that I can’t list them all but they are ours to engage in. No one should be allowed to take or hinder or interfere with our worship language. You are allowed to worship God who forgave you of your own sins, in the way you are moved by the Spirit too. Just as my brother in Christ pointed out that my hand was moving so I must have been singing to the Lord while driving. I had entered a worship language with my Lord for no one else could hear any words but they could witness my worship (my hand moving). Just as I can witness as others entered their worship language. Oh what a glorious thing to witness as God’s people, while gathered together, praise their Lord and as they enter into each of their worship languages. Our worship language is us giving over to the One who paid our sin debt. Its our way of being fully connected to the Lord Jesus and say Thank You for releasing me of everything I was carrying, Please help me, carry me Lord, I surrender all, and Thank You for loving even me, me who was a liar, me who was a foul mouth speaking foolishly from a place of coldness, me who was a thief, me who was a fornicator or adulterer sinning not just against You, a loved one but also against my own flesh, me who was a covetor – coveting other’s possessions, income, careers, life styles, etc., me who was a pretending lover of God when I loved self first and foremost, me who was a straight up sinner but the love of God tore down the walls I had built and cleansed me, making me whole and broke the shackles of a life I thought I was living. So Yes! We have a worship language for our Lord and Savior and we will and should praise Him. I refuse to hold back my worship, my praise and my prayer language from the Lord because you don’t know exactly what He forgave me of, you don’t know how it felt to have all of that lifted up off of me and you don’t know the truest cause of my praise. He has been to good to me.
Lord God, I want to always worship You in the way that is pleasing unto You. I want to always have a prayer language between me and You. Please forgive me for any time that I’ve looked at another person’s worship language as not being right. You are the decider of that and not me. I realize we all have our own. Please forgive me for the times I’ve allowed someone else to hinder my worship because they might think I’m the crazy shoutin Jesus lady. I’d rather have Jesus than anything this world can offer me.
