We recommended some restaurants and some enjoyable places to a newlywed couple from our church as they were going to an area that we have frequently been. The wife text me to confirm one of the restaurants we highly recommended to them and as I told Matt about the conversation we both concluded that we were ready to go as well. Knowing this couple are/were in that area enjoying all of these places we’ve been, sitting and enjoying the beach, going to the restaurants that we know have excellent food and just getting away from it all for a bit; this really created in us the desire to want to plan a vacation. We both sort of longed to go where they are now.
Isn’t that usually how it works? We see others pictures, videos and such of them enjoying their own vacation and it creates this desire in our own selves to want to go. A lot of times, the planning begins. When can we go, can we afford it, do we want to go to the same area or to a new destination, and depending on the destination that will dictate the time of year for traveling. The more we see pictures of other’s vacations the more we want to go too!! There are some people who are like, oh my we’ve got to go on a vacation I can’t stand it seeing all of these pictures. It just makes me want to leave now! It’s like it creates an urgency within to go.
This all made me think about heaven and our desire to go there. As our loved ones pass on, does this create a desire in us to want to go there too? Do we feel an urgency within to get there? As we see the signs of the times, does that create an urgency to want to go to heaven? As we gain understanding of things, do we prepare, plan and execute everything needed to secure heaven as our destination? Or maybe I should ask this: what will it take to create this same urgency in you that you just can’t stand it because you want to go so badly that you are willing to put in all of the effort to get there? What will cause you to say I want to go too! What will give you a sense of now! I must go now! I must prepare, plan, rearrange things in my life so I will get there now! If one of your loved ones, who is in heaven, could send you pictures, videos and descriptions of what they are seeing, how they are in the presence of Jesus and there’s absolutely no sin there; would these things create an urgency in you to want to go? Then why not listen to the word of God as His inspired word describes for us what heaven will be like? Or why not listen to the God’s word as it describes what hell will be like. Just like Lazarus and the rich man, the rich man wanted Father Abraham to send Lazarus to warn his family, but Father Abraham told him his family had the prophets whom they do not listen too already so why would they listen to Lazarus. Meaning God is not going to send another message, another Bible or another preacher to speak truth to you. You already have the truth in His Living Word (KJ) that gives the exact description God wants us to have. If that doesn’t make you want to go then nothing else will.
Lord God Almighty, I want to go!!!! 🙋🏻♀️ I can see the signs of the times, I can close my eyes and try to feebly picture what heaven will be like and I can most definitely understand that hell is far worse than we understand and I do NOT want to go there for any reason. I desire to make heaven my eternal home. Nothing else will do! Forgive me for the preparation I’m not already attending too. Please reveal to me the areas I need to work on because me, Lord, I want to go too! I feel the urgency within me!
